Will my bank charge extra fees for paying in AED?

Possibly — because bookings are billed in AED, banks outside the UAE may add a foreign-transaction fee (commonly 2–3%) and apply their own exchange rate, which is why your statement can show slightly more than the converted estimate on screen. We do not add any currency surcharge; using a card with no foreign-transaction fees is the easiest way to avoid the extra cost.

The two bank add-ons to know about

First, a foreign-transaction fee — a percentage many banks add to any non-home-currency charge, commonly 2–3%. Second, the exchange-rate margin: your bank converts at its own rate, which sits a little above the headline market rate. Both belong to your bank, not to us.

Our side of the ledger is clean

The AED amount charged is exactly the total shown at checkout — no hidden surcharges, no currency mark-up from us. Anything above that on your statement was added in the conversion by your card issuer.

Estimating your real cost

Use the currency display switcher while browsing to see close estimates in your money, then allow for your bank's fee on top. If you travel often, a card that waives foreign-transaction fees pays for itself quickly — those cards see our AED charge at close to the market rate.

One note on refunds

Refunds also travel in AED, so tiny differences between what you paid and what came back are the two conversions, not a deduction. Check any booking's AED total in My Trips, browse payments & account help for more, or start searching hotels.
