The Tourism Dirham is Dubai's official per-room, per-night hotel fee, ranging from about AED 7 to AED 20 depending on the property's star rating. It is not included in your online payment — you pay it directly at the property, usually at check-in or check-out, and it is charged for a maximum of 30 consecutive nights.
How much per night
- Five-star hotels: AED 20 per room per night.
- Four-star: AED 15.
- Three-star: AED 10.
- Budget hotels and standard hotel apartments: around AED 7.
The fee is per room, not per guest — a family sharing one room pays it once per night — and it stops after 30 consecutive nights of the same stay.
Why it isn't in your online total
Dubai requires hotels to collect the Tourism Dirham directly from guests, so it can't be prepaid through any booking site. It will appear as its own line on the hotel's invoice, alongside VAT and service charge, which is also why the hotel bill at check-out isn't a mistake or a double charge.
Budgeting for it
Multiply the fee for your hotel's star rating by nights and rooms: a week in a four-star room adds AED 105. Small money, but nicer to expect.
