How old do you have to be to check into a hotel in Dubai?

The lead guest generally needs to be at least 18 years old to check in to a Dubai hotel, following the UAE's updated age-of-majority rules. Some individual properties still set their own minimum of 21 as a house rule, so check the hotel's policy on its listing page or ask us before booking if you are under 21.

The general rule: 18 and over

At 18 you are legally an adult in the UAE, and most hotels will check you in as the lead guest with a valid ID. Because every Dubai hotel is required to scan ID at check-in, the age on your passport or Emirates ID is what counts โ€” there is no way around the check.

Some hotels say 21

A minority of properties keep a 21+ house rule for the lead guest. This is the hotel's own policy, not a government rule, and it is enforced at the front desk. If you are 18โ€“20, verify the specific hotel's minimum age before you pay โ€” check the listing page, or open a ticket at support and we will confirm it with the property for you.

Travelling under 18

Guests under 18 must stay with an adult, and that adult must be the registered lead guest on the booking. Book the room in the adult's name and list the under-18s as guests so occupancy and check-in go smoothly.

Once you know the policy fits, search Dubai hotels โ€” or browse more check-in answers in hotels help.
