For rates with free cancellation, the simplest way to change dates is to cancel before the deadline and rebook the new dates — your refund returns to your original card in 5–10 business days and the new booking is charged separately. Non-refundable bookings generally cannot be changed; contact support and we will ask the property, but changes are at the hotel's discretion.
Flexible rates: cancel and rebook
Open your booking in My Trips, cancel before the free-cancellation deadline, then book your new dates. Two things to know: the new dates are priced at today's rates, which may be higher or lower than what you paid, and the refund and the new charge are separate transactions that can overlap on your statement for a few days.
Timing matters
Rebook while your free-cancellation window is still open. If you wait until after the deadline, cancelling triggers the rate's penalty — often the first night or more — which turns a free date change into an expensive one. When plans wobble, act early.
Non-refundable bookings
There is no guaranteed way to move a non-refundable booking. Open a ticket at support with your booking reference and the dates you want — we will put the request to the property. Hotels do sometimes agree to a date move as a goodwill gesture, especially outside peak dates, but it is entirely their call.
Watch your statement
After a cancel-and-rebook you will briefly see both transactions: the new charge immediately, and the refund landing within 5–10 business days. Both sit against the same original card.
