Why 25 is the common floor
Insurers set the terms. High-performance cars carry high claim costs, and underwriters price younger drivers out — so most suppliers simply set 25 as the minimum for their sports and exotic fleets.
Under 25? You still have options
Some suppliers take drivers aged 21–24 on selected models, usually with a bigger deposit or a daily surcharge. The model list shrinks and terms tighten, but it's not an automatic no — which is exactly why stating your age upfront in the enquiry saves everyone time.
Licence history counts too
Age alone isn't enough: suppliers typically want your licence held for two to three years. A 26-year-old with a six-month-old licence can be refused where a 23-year-old with four years of driving is accepted.
