No โ charters arranged through our partner suppliers come fully crewed, with a licensed captain (and crew on larger boats) included in the price, so you don't need any boating licence or experience. Self-drive ("bareboat") hire is a niche exception that requires recognised qualifications; for almost everyone, crewed charter is the way Dubai works.
Crewed charter is the default
Your job on board is to relax. The captain and crew come with the boat, are included in the quoted price, and handle everything from casting off to anchoring for a swim stop. Guests never need any paperwork beyond ID.
What the captain takes care of
Navigation, marina rules, radio traffic and the safety briefing before departure are all the captain's responsibility โ as are the life jackets and safety equipment on board, which are the operator's legal obligation, not yours.
The bareboat exception
Want to skipper yourself? That's a specialist request. Suppliers who offer bareboat hire demand recognised boating qualifications and proof of experience before handing over a vessel โ and most leisure charters in Dubai simply aren't set up for it. If you hold qualifications, mention them in your enquiry and we'll ask.
What to put in your enquiry
Group size, preferred route and duration are all the supplier needs to confirm a crewed vessel and an itemised price. Browse the fleet on our yachts page, see more charter answers in luxury & experiences help, or send us your date and group size to get started.
