Stop, make sure everyone is safe, and call Dubai Police (999 for emergencies; minor accidents can be reported via the police app) — a police report is legally required for every accident, however small, and insurance claims are impossible without one. Then call the rental desk using the number on your voucher and follow their instructions.
First minutes at the scene
- Anyone injured? Call 999, stay put, and don't move the vehicles.
- Minor prang, everyone fine? Move the car off the road to a safe spot, then report via 999 or the police app.
- Wait for the report — every accident must be reported, however small the scratch. Without the police report, no insurance claim is possible and the full cost can land on you.
Then call the rental company
With the police process underway, ring the desk on the number on your voucher. They'll tell you what happens next and arrange recovery or a replacement car where needed — that's their job, not yours to improvise.
How the insurance plays out
The police report assigns fault, and that determines what you pay: with CDW in place your liability is capped at the excess in your rental terms, and full-excess cover can take even that to zero. No report, no claim — which is why step one matters most.
One firm rule at the roadside
Never pay or accept a cash settlement at the scene, however friendly the offer. It undermines the police report and can leave you carrying the whole cost later. If anything about the aftermath feels wrong, contact our support with your booking reference — and see car rental help for how excess and deposits work.
