Motor City: Dubai's neighbourhood for car lovers

Most cities have a car scene; Dubai built a neighbourhood for it. Motor City, on the desert side of town past Sports City, is a district designed around motorsport โ€” automotive-themed streets and residences arranged around its centrepiece, the Dubai Autodrome.

The Autodrome

The Autodrome is a full FIA-sanctioned circuit, 5.39 km at its longest configuration, and the reason petrolheads make the drive out. It runs public track experiences year-round: drive single-seaters, hot hatches and supercars with instruction, or book the passenger hot laps if you would rather feel it than steer it. The Kartdrome alongside offers indoor and outdoor karting that is genuinely quick โ€” a regular fixture for Dubai's racing community and one of the best-value adrenaline hits in the city. Race weekends bring regional championships with free or cheap grandstand access.

Beyond the track

The district itself is relaxed and residential, with cafรฉs and shops along tree-lined streets โ€” a side of Dubai far from the skyscraper corridor. It pairs well with nearby Dubai Miracle Garden in season, or a desert drive further out.

Getting there

Motor City is a 25โ€“30 minute drive from the Marina or Downtown with no Metro connection, so a car is essential โ€” fittingly. If you are renting something fun during your stay, this is the destination that justifies it; book the track experience ahead, as slots fill fast in the winter season.
